Home Connections is a service provider of Choice Based Letting (CBL) “Services” to Local Authority Partners and Housing Associations in UK.

The Home Connections consortium consists of a number of partners. As of January 2006 the partners were the London Boroughs of Camden, Enfield, Islington, Haringey, Barnet, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster City Council, the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and SPH Housing, Ujima, Newlon, Innisfree, Community Housing, Soho, Mosaic, Housing Associations.

Home Connections also provides the infrastructure for Urban Choice a consortia of Birmingham City Council and the following 4 RSL’s Focus, HAMAC, Family (Birmingham), Midland Area CBL (Choice Based Lettings) is a nationwide initiative to make more transparent the allocation of social housing to home-seekers, and to give home-seekers more choice in the selection of housing properties. In many respects, CBL mirrors the private housing market, in that

1. Home-seekers are provided with currency, which is based on an assessment of their need – the greater their need, the more they have to “spend”
2. Home-seekers can use that currency to obtain properties – the more currency they have to spend, the greater chance they have of a securing a property.

Solution Delivered:

InfoAxon developed a Choice Based Lettings platform powered by Open source technologies. The solutions platform was based as an N-tier architecture based on J2EE technology but also comprised of several Open source components integrated together to achieve the final platform.

InfoAxon developed the Alfresco calendar for Alfresco 3.0 in collaboration with London Borough of Islington.

Overview

InfoAxon has successfully contributed a Web 2.0 calendar application to an industry leading open source Enterprise Content Management system ‘Alfresco’ that is now merged in the latest Alfresco 3.0 release. The work was commissioned as part of the existing Alfresco implementation and was run as a Source forge project until the time it was adopted by Alfresco for further development.

The Problem

Organizations have multiple applications and softwares in place which have been developed over the period during the lifetime of the organization. And after a while, the problem of not having a central repository of the content and knowledge becomes one of the major concerns of the CTO. Each of the applications stores content in different shape and form, and there is no standard means by which these contents can be gathered and aggregated.

And after a while a situation arises that content cannot be controlled and the overall knowledge of the organization starts to be lost. For knowledge and content centric organizations, this proves to be very important. For resolving such problems, many organizations opt for expensive solutions like SAP, Microsoft etc. But even then the old traditional applications running cannot be replaced easily.

The Solution

Dynamic Knowledge Repository of fusionKM looks for solving this problem. The knowledge repository (or content repository) stores the content and indexes the content. fusionKM is able to expose this knowledge and content as services. Services as REST, Web Services over HTTP, SOAP, WebDAV etc.

fusionKM Services Layer exposes and controls all the functionalities of these services along with managing the relevant transaction, security aspects. Since the services are exposed via standard HTTP protocol using REST API, any other application can consume the services in a true SOA based environment.

In a way, the full content repository is exposed as services and ready to be consumed.

fusionKM Dynamic Content Repository also comes with one administrative console to manage and monitor the full repository.

Architecture

The fusionKM Dynamic Knowledge Repository is built as SOA. The core Knowledge Repository is hidden from the external applications. Applications would only use and connect via the services, and the service handlers would take care of the rest.

The Services are exposed by variety of standard and technology-independent protocols and connectors such as HTTP, REST, SOAP, FTP, WebDAV. Thus any applications from any technology would be able to connect to the repository using these protocols. Most of the portable devices also support these protocols, enabling those to access and connect to the repository.

Since the repository services are exposed via HTTP, depending on the deployment, the services can be accessed in the Intranet, Extranet, VPN or even in Internet.

InfoAxon automates Yes Bank’s Customer Acquisition & Customer Servicing by deploying & enhancing open source CRM application

InfoAxon has completed the successful deployment of open source CRM application at Yes Bank which was customized and enhanced to automate Yes Bank’s customer acquisition and customer servicing. HDFC Bank Ltd, India’s second-largest private lender, plans to build in-house software applications around open source software, such as Linux, that will help automate and handle banking operations better, and work seamlessly with specialized packages that banks use. The new open source centre at HDFC Bank’s Lower Parel office in Mumbai will be run by Noida-based IT company Info Axon Technologies.
