Home Connections is a service provider of Choice Based Letting (CBL) “Services” to Local Authority Partners and Housing Associations in UK.
The Home Connections consortium consists of a number of partners. As of January 2006 the partners were the London Boroughs of Camden, Enfield, Islington, Haringey, Barnet, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster City Council, the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and SPH Housing, Ujima, Newlon, Innisfree, Community Housing, Soho, Mosaic, Housing Associations.
Home Connections also provides the infrastructure for Urban Choice a consortia of Birmingham City Council and the following 4 RSL’s Focus, HAMAC, Family (Birmingham), Midland Area CBL (Choice Based Lettings) is a nationwide initiative to make more transparent the allocation of social housing to home-seekers, and to give home-seekers more choice in the selection of housing properties. In many respects, CBL mirrors the private housing market, in that
- Home-seekers are provided with currency, which is based on an assessment of their need – the greater their need, the more they have to “spend”
- Home-seekers can use that currency to obtain properties – the more currency they have to spend, the greater chance they have of a securing a property.
Solution Delivered:
InfoAxon developed a Choice Based Lettings platform powered by Open source technologies. The solutions platform was based as an N-tier architecture based on J2EE technology but also comprised of several Open source components integrated together to achieve the final platform.
Benefits:
- High quality Open source powered platform that hosts more than 3 million hits per day
- Increased revenue and profits for customer once the platform was launched. The total number of hosted partners on the platform increased from 6 to 28 over 4 years.
- The platform since has become an engine for growth for the customer and has helped scale the business in number of other areas around Choice Based lettings.
